Lawrence Yaskiel of Deutsche Vogue has arranged for top German vocalist Udo Jurgens to record under Tony Hatch's direction at the Pye Studios here. Hatch is writing two songs for Jurgens aimed at the British market.

J. J. Finsterwald, director of Deutsche Vogue was in London after covering the Eurovision Contest where his company's artist Udo Jurgens won with "Merci Cherie", published by Montana Music of Munich. Finsterwald had talks with Pye, the U.K. affiliate of Vogue, who released the Jurgens recording in the original language version, on March 11.

Udo Jurgens, creator of this year's winning Eurovision song, "Merci Cherie", visited Paris for radio and TV dates after recording a French version of the song in Munich for Vogue.

Saar issued Udo Jurgens' Italian version of "Merci Cherie", "Merci", winner of the recent Eurovision Song Contest.

Udo Jurgens' Eurovision-winning song on "Studio Uno". Milva, just back from Japan, will sing Rita Pavone's record, "Blue Spanish Eyes" on the same program.

Udo Jurgens, whose song "Merci Cherie" won the Eurovision Song Contest, is booked for a Musicorama concert at the Olympia Theater June 21 .

The Festival of Roses, to be held in Rome next October, will enjoy strong participation by Saar's artists Umberto, I 7 Latini (The Seven Latins), Gabriella, Remo Germani, Nicola Di Bari, Solidea, Massiel and Udo Jurgens.

Udo Jurgens is recording for Vogue an EP featuring three new French songs specially written for him by Bernard Kesslair, Andre Salvet, J. L. Chauby, B. DuPac and D. Faure. The fourth title will be Andre Salvet's French version of Jurgens' own song "Sag Mir Wie".

HAMBURG

Udo Juergens and Esther Ofarim have been voted Germany's best male and female singers by readers of a German music magazine. Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand won in the international section.
Juergens has written a song for England's Graham Bonney, and is currently working on a stage musicapscore.

Udo Jurgens' "Merci Cherie" has sold 1 million copies worldwide. In France, it sold 350,000, and the German version has reached 250,000. Deutsche Vogue, Cologne, will present Jurgens with a gold disk.
